Were the Teen Choice Awards winners picked beforehand?

If you were tweeting while watching the Teen Choice Awards, you might've noticed the trending topic that night: #TeensDon'tHaveAChoiceAwards. So what was the deal? Well, after a few Vine stars, including Matt Espinosa and Cameron Dallas, tweeted how upset they were by the voting process, tons of their fans agreed. "The network picked the people almost six days before voting was done," Matt claimed. Viewers also noticed a disclaimer that aired at the end of the show, stating that the "ultimate choice was determined solely by the producers." A source explains that the process is similar to other award show voting, and how TCA voting has worked in the past. "Producers of non-prestige award shows (i.e. MTV Movie Awards, Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards) frequently have to notify stars in advance that they won or else… well, those celebrities won't show up," a source explains. What a bummer!
